A somber remembrance, 25 years later

On the early morning hours of Sept. 11, 2001, the steel beam went unnoticed, a silent stalwart helping to keep the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center standing.
Hours later, the beam, and the buildings around it, collapsed as two hijacked planes crashed into and destroyed the landmark, killing thousands in the process.
Today, that beam sits outside the Natick Center Police Station, a silent but powerful reminder of a day when America changed.
The Natick Police and Fire departments, along with the Natick Soldiers System Center, local and state official and residents gathered Sept. 11, 2026 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of that dark day.
The group paused at 8:46 a.m. to honor the innocent lives lost, the extraordinary sacrifice of first responders, and the enduring strength of a united community.
As the day continues, the community encouraged everyone to take a moment to reflect, reach out to a neighbor, and express gratitude to the brave men and women who serve and protect us every day.
