July 4 Community Picnic to blanket the Common

The community will gather for a picnic to celebrate the nation’s birthday.

NATICK – The parade may be on hold for one more year, but the Friends of the Fourth will still be hosting a celebration.

The Friends will sponsor a Community Picnic on July 4 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Common.

Pack a picnic basket and join in the fun with games, contests and music. Bring blankets, chairs, picnic games to share with the neighbors. Do not bring grills or alcohol.

There will be lawn games such as corn hole, ladder golf and hacky sack. Board games include Uno, Yahtzee, cards and cribbage. There will also be face painting, tattoos, coloring and more.

The national anthem will play at noon. Children can decorate their bikes and trikes for a parade that rolls off at 2 p.m.

The Friends are seeking volunteers to help with the picnic, as well as the possible return of the parade in 2027. For information, visit www.natick4th.org, or the Friends’ Facebook page.
