Grant to Support Revolutionary War Education Project
The Natick Historical Society has been awarded a $500 grant from the Natick Cultural Council to support its Revolutionary War Treasure Trunk project.
The trunk is a traveling educational kit designed to give children of all ages a hands-on experience learning about the Revolutionary War.
The program builds on other Revolutionary War projects at the Natick Historical Society, including a traveling war memorial and student archive project funded by Mass Humanities and the Frank and Sheila Magullion Foundation and the preservation of Natick’s 1775 Bunker Hill Muster Roll, funded by the Natick Community Preservation Committee.
Planning and purchasing for the kit is underway. Contents will include reproduction artifacts and documents from the Revolutionary War period. Teachers and other adult group leaders such as Girl Scouts will be able to rent the kit beginning this spring.
The rental will come with structured activity and curriculum plans to inspire learning about what life was like in Natick and beyond during the Revolutionary War.
The Natick Cultural Council is a local agency supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency. The treasure trunk will be supported with matching funds from the Frank and Sheila Magullion Foundation.
