Grant Helps Natick Service Council Support Those in Need

The Natick Service Council has received $10,000 in funding to provide financial assistance to those needing support.

The Community Foundation for MetroWest provided the money as part of a $320,000 distribution of Hunger Relief Grants to 61 local organizations that provide essential food assistance in the region.

“During a time when so many of our community members need extra support the Community Foundation for MetroWest proactively stepped up with funding that allows NSC to carry out our motto of Neighbors Helping Neighbors,’’ said Rachel Vingsness, executive director of the Natick Service Council.

The funding will be used  for clothing, housing financing assistance and gift cards to grocery stores, Vingeness said.

These grants reflect the foundation’s ongoing commitment to addressing food insecurity in MetroWest and to supporting nonprofits on the front lines serving families and individuals facing hunger, according to the foundation.

“In a year marked by increasing challenges for many in our community, the Foundation has once again prioritized hunger relief as a key area of focus. The grants will help local food banks, meal programs, and emergency food pantries expand their capacity to meet the growing demands for food assistance, ensuring that our neighbors don’t go without, according to the foundation

“Hunger relief is an ongoing need that requires both immediate action and long-term commitment,” said Jay Kim, Executive Director of the Community Foundation for MetroWest.

“These Hunger Relief Grants are part of our continuous effort to provide both quick support and lasting assistance,’’ Kim said. “We’ll keep listening carefully and responding thoughtfully to ensure we meet the needs of our community, now and in the future.
